Are there any beaches in Brunswick and Pender counties that allow four-wheel-drive vehicle access?

Ken Little

In Brunswick County: Brunswick County Manager Marty Lawing and several town managers say they are not aware of any county beach towns that allow public driving access on beaches.

In Pender County: Pender County Manager Rick Benton said Topsail Beach allows four-wheel-drive access between Oct. 1 and March 31. A $50 permit is required for out-of-town residents. The town of Surf City allows four-wheel-drive beach access between Sept. 10 and May 15, also for a $50 permit.
