Who is responsible for cleaning up the debris in the road after a car accident?

“Usually the tow truck driver who is picking up the damaged cars cleans up all the debris, depending on what it is,” says Cpl. Jerry Brewer, of the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.

If gasoline is involved, “then the fire department handles it,” Brewer says.
