According to Pat Lewis’ high school coach, Jim Hebbe, Pat played for Buffalo, where he was a standout in college. Afterwards, he relocated to Fort Worth, Texas and owned a business. Since then, he has returned to Wilmington and referees recreation basketball.
Hebbe considered him the forerunner to Michael Jordan and David Thompson.
“I told our team to always keep your hands up chest high because you never know when he would zip you a pass,’’ Hebbe said. “Pat was among the first players who could dribble between his legs and make great passes. The other thing I remember is he was a nice young man.’’
