How much did it cost to complete Interstate 40?

The entire 122-mile stretch from Raleigh to Wilmington cost about $417 million. The last 91-mile section, from Benson to Wilmington, cost about $225 million.

It’s estimated that the entire highway, from Wilmington to Barstow, Calif. cost about $3.3 billion to complete.
