When will the boat ramp and pier be open at Sunset Harbor?

The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission hopes to open the new boat ramp, pier and other amenities at Sunset Harbor by Memorial Day weekend, according to engineering division chief Erik Christofferson.

The purpose of the project is to provide more access at this popular recreational site, Christofferson said. It involves putting in a fishing pier, two new fixed docks and boat ramps, a floating dock and a new bulkhead.

The site also will have a parking lot expanded from five to some 30 spaces, after Wildlife Resources purchased more property for the site through grants, he said.

The area has been closed for several months for the project’s construction.
