Is a public park still planned for Wrightsboro?

Chris Mazzolini
StarNews

New Hanover county still has plans to build a park in Wrightsboro, but when that happens remains up in the air. Jim McDaniel, the parks and gardens director, called Wrightsboro “underserved.”

But the county’s budget crisis has delayed that park project and others, because the county has postponed the sale of bonds to delay debt that would have to be paid.

The county may delay the bond sales again, given the economy and the budget picture.

The county plans to build a playground and picnic area in Wrightsboro, where the county has a 15-acre tract of land.
