In addition to her $300,000 salary, Chancellor Rosemary DePaolo gets a house, a car and membership to the City Club, all of which the university says is common practice for university chancellors.
The school chancellor is actually required to live in university-owned Kenan House on UNCW property, as it is used for the many events and dinners with students, alumni, donors and community members. DePaolo’s vehicle is provided on loan from a local car dealership because of the extensive travel required to attend meetings off-campus, and must be returned when she leaves or retires. The City Club membership is to allow DePaolo to entertain donors, alumni and other friends of the university.
This is all standard procedure across the UNC system and the nation, according to UNCW spokeswoman Dana Fischetti.
The chancellor does not receive personal laundry service or groceries, though Kenan House undergoes regular cleaning and maintenance as a university-owned building. UNCW police do not provide personal security for DePaolo, Fischetti said, but do have jurisdiction over all UNCW property, including Kenan House.

You did leave out what color underwear she likes. Give it a rest
Dr. DePaolo is a great chancellor and should be paid a lot more for her work. She is always talking with students and parents about how to make UNCW better. I think she deserves a raise for making us great! Anyone who thinks she doesn’t deserve the perks of her position is simply petty, she works all the time.
Who said she wasn’t doing a good job? And I think 300,000 dollars is plenty of compensation in addition to the perks of her job. I mean, there are still plenty of under paid professors and staff members at UNCW. Maybe their salaries could be bumped up a little or maybe the tution that some many parents and students struggle to pay… I doubt DePaolo has ever had to worry about where her next meal was coming from. I’m sure it’s tough, but I think she can make it on $300,000.
In a newer post, the question was raised about “Why no ROTC.?
Dana Frischetti’s response to that question was that the University is focusing on infrastruture. I guess house parties and a $300k salary mean infrastructure.
Austerity for all college administrators should be consideration with tuition hikes being given to the pilgrims. ” comparable is not a good reason ” to continue practices unneeded and very expensive. Its not hard to get a good college administrator without these salaries & benefits. Are there surveys completed by staff and students on performance on college administrators without predicated benefits to them. Derive a system of bonuses where benefits given to chancellors & staff are performance based. It seems universities can not create innovation, except in labs and athletics shortchanging the majority of parents and students. This group think they are getting the highest quality education but they receive no data to back it up. The Board of Regents data is quality of our benefits for our chancellor, university advertising media, one day visitation or the annual Worlds News and Report opinionated article addressing accomplishments notably based on university financial resources. Oh! I forgot the school research derived by progressive and serious prospective students or their parents. Status quo is always easier than breaking new frontier
