East Carolina Bank plans to start work on building a branch on the site by mid-April, according to Jerry Brett, senior vice president and regional executive for East Carolina Bank in Wilmington.

The bank hopes to have the branch operating by the end of 2010, he said. Brett explained that the bad economy had put building on hold, but now the bank is ready to proceed.
