What is being built on Chippenham Drive between Hearthside Drive and St. Andrew’s Drive?

It’s the site of the Doctor’s Branch Stream Restoration project, according to to David B. Mayes, city of Wilmington storm water services manager.

A contractor has been hired to oversee the project between Hearthside and Chippenham drives, Mayes says.

Its benefits, as outlined by the city, include natural stream restoration and property protection for homes in the Stonington subdivision. The drainage area covers more than 288 acres.

Storm water capital projects are necessary when the existing storm water drainage system is inadequate and result in flooded streets and property. They also strive to improve water quality whenever possible, according to the city storm water Web site: www.ci.wilmington.nc.us/public_services/stormwater/capital_projects.aspx
