Whatever happened to Kitty Fitzgibbon?

Ben Steelman

The longtime morning co-host on Wilmington radio station WGNI departed the station as of Oct. 28, according to program director Mike Farrow.

Fitzgibbon, who’s been in broadcasting in the Wilmington market for more than 20 years, reports that she’s doing fine and is taking some time off right now, between engagements.

In the meantime, fans can catch her playing country star Hank Williams’ feisty mom in “Hank Williams: Lost Highway” through Saturday (Nov. 7) on City Stage at Level 5. A veteran stage actress, Fitzgibbon has also appeared in a number of “Hollywood East” films, most notably “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” (1990).

The quality of the answers on here is really deteriorating. Many of us (who don’t listen to that kind of radio) remember her from years at WWAY, not radio, and you don’t even bother to mention that.

Was able to see the Hank Williams Story and it was great! First time to Level 5 and the atmosphere merged well from the bar over the river to watching Hank Williams come alive. It’s a MUST SEE! Kitty performed very well as did all the actors. I’ve lived here for 15 years and didn’t know this place existed. Wonderful treasure to find.

Thanks for this column and the answer about Kitty. I too knew her from TV, not radio, but what does it matter? We got the answer, and despite all hopes, no one can anticipate what part of another’s life the questioner is looking for, so please just do your best. She is alive and hopefully well and I’m happy for her.

I have been wondering what happened to Kitty. I remember her from TV – and WGNI.. She brought sunshine to my life every single day listening to her and Craig on the radio. Their ‘ nonsense’ and continuous joking with each other made my ride to and from work so much better ! I wish her all the best and thank her for all the laughs she brought to me.
Best of luck Kitty !! WGNI will never be the same….

She now works at HT in the Fresh Foods dept. but……she is an outstanding worker…….and haven’t asked her but would love to know why she dosen’t work for WWAY or GNI!
