What is the story behind the murals in the cafeteria at New Hanover High School?

Chelsea Kellner

The murals were painted for a movie, the 1995 teen comedy My Teacher’s Wife, starring Jason London and Tia Carrere. The murals go from 1958 to 1998, and each has a picture of something iconic from that year – for instance, one has the Pac Man symbol. Since the movie’s filming, the school has started a tradition of having alums from each year sign the wall for class reunions.
