Why is the grass being torn up in the median of College Road?

Ken Little

There are two reasons for the removal of grass on College Road between Martin Luther King Parkway and Wilshire Boulevard, according to Allen Pope, division engineer for the N.C. Department of Transportation.

“First, to remove the high shoulders and re-establish some of the lost drainage in the median ditch,” Pope says. “Secondly, the need for shoulder material where left turn lanes were extended.”
