Who do I call to find the location of the newest boat ramps?

Amy Hotz

Your best bet would be to contact the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, which operates many boat ramps in the region. The number is  919-707-0150.

For a complete list of ramps they operate, go to http://www.ncwildlife.org/Fishing/Fish_Angling_Sites.htm

Area counties also operate boat ramps. New Hanover County is in charge of the new one at Trails End Road. William Lewis is the parks director for New Hanover County. His number is 798-7620. If you go to this Web site, http://www.nhcgov.com/AgnAndDpt/PRKS/Pages/DeptInfo.aspx you will get an update on the Trails End project.

For Brunswick County boat ramp information, contact 253-2670 or go to http://www.brunswickcountync.gov/Departments/ParksandRecreation/ParkLocationsAmenities/tabid/113/Default.aspx

For Pender County, call 259-1330.

Often if a government entity purchases land on the water that is too small for a full-fledged boat ramp, it will be restricted to kayak and canoe launching, which also takes pressure off of those ramps that are more accessible to bigger boats. It at least opens up some more parking spaces.
