When will the Wilmington Riverfront Project get started, and will condos be in the first phase?

If you’ve tried to drive to the Coastline Conference & Event Center lately, you’re probably well aware that indeed, something is happening with the northern riverfront. Infrastructure work, including utility installation, road construction and curbing, is well under way and is scheduled to wrap up at the end of this month. But when construction begins on Marina House, the residential condominium component of the project, is anyone’s guess at this point. This portion has suffered as a result of the Northeast Interceptor sewer moratorium and the subsequent slumping economy, according to developer David Spetrino of Plantation Building Corp. Previous financing fell through, resulting in the return of deposits to buyers, so Spetrino is seeking a new lender, something that will undoubtedly be no easy feat in the current economic climate.
