“One Tree Hill” definitely generates the most celebrity sightings in the Wilmington area because the show has filmed here for more than six years. Former OTH star Hilarie Burton, in particular. Burton is often seen in the downtown area at local watering holes and theaters such as City Stage at Level 5.
OTH actress Sophia Bush enjoys checking out the local music scene, so look for her at some of the live music venues.
I’ve run into Bush and James Lafferty at Odessa and I’ve seen Chad Michael Murray at Dockside Restaurant at Wrightsville Beach (although since he left the show after its sixth season he probably won’t be around any more). Several other StarNews reporters run into the random OTH cast member at Blue Post Billiards on a semi-regular basis.
Of course, Wilmington has more than its share of John Travolta sightings. Rumors persist that the actor flies into the Port City often and might even keep a yacht here. And when “Provinces of Night” filmed in the Wilmington area earlier this year Kris Kristofferson seemed to be out and about every night.
