Is there any free parking in Carolina Beach?

Judy Royal

Hate feeding the meters or the pay station in Carolina Beach? Of course you do! But there’s an alternative. Even if you want to go to the water, you’ll find free parking spaces that aren’t too far away.

Along Lake Park Boulevard on the main drag you can park for free for two hours, and past the lake it goes up to three hours. On the west side of Cape Fear Boulevard, there is free parking for 20 minutes to two hours depending on the space. There are also some free spaces on Charlotte Avenue near the Deck House. Note that you have to move your car to another block, not just another space, before the time limit ends.

All metered and pay station lots are free anytime Nov. 1-March 31. In peak months, park for free from 7 p.m. to 8 a.m. Town residents or property owners may purchase a permit that gives them free parking anytime at the surface level lots and at the meters in beach access areas. I was down south of the Lake at Carolina Beach yesterday and the parking time limit is not three (3) hours…it is two (2) hours the same as other locations.

I would like to say to the Carolina Beach Board that Wrightsville Beach parking is free after 6pm. It is becuase of this fact that I go to Wrightsville after work with the family, and occassionally buy something on the island while I’m there. I would definatley go to CB if I could and buy stuff there. I would love to see the parking free after 6pm instead of 7pm.
