How do I find out if my neighborhood is safe?

Judy Royal

Actually, if you have the chance, you may want to ask this question before it actually becomes your neighborhood. Otherwise, you may find yourself in the middle of a crime hotspot and in need of a security system, bodyguard or vicious watchdog.

If you live in the city of Wilmington, you can check out a crime map, wanted map and other helpful information on the Star-News crime page. If you don’t find what you’re after there, call the Wilmington Police Department at (910) 343-3600.

If you live in the unincorporated area of New Hanover County, call the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 798-4200.

In the beach towns, call their respective police departments: Wrightsville Beach (910) 256-7945, Carolina Beach (910) 458-2540 and Kure Beach (910) 458-7586.

In Brunswick County, call the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 253-2777. In Pender County , call the Pender County Sheriff’s Department at (910) 259-1212.
