Where are some good places to adopt a pet?

Judy Royal

Pets make many homes complete. There’s nothing like an animal companion to brighten your day. If you’re looking to adopt a furry forever friend into your home, there are many places you can pick a pal and save a life at the same time. Consider these:

Adopt-an-Angel: assists municipal shelters by providing satellite adoption sites, thereby increasing the number of animals adopted

Brunswick County Animal Services Cat Adoption Team: a no-kill, state-inspected non-profit foster care rescue group who takes in strays, semi-feral, abandoned, previously owned and neglected cats

Cat Tails: Cat Adoption Services: a non-profit organization comprised of dedicated, cat-loving people who have come together to benefit the feline population in Brunswick County

Compassion in Action: a network of foster homes for abused and/or neglected rescued animals that rehabilitates and finds loving homes for homeless animals

New Hanover County Animal Control Services New Hanover Humane Society PAWS Place: A  5 acre no-kill facility, operating entirely on donations and volunteers

Pender Animal Rescue Pender County Health Department Animal Shelter Pender County Humane Society SOAR- Southport Oak Island Animal Rescue: a no-kill three acre private facility, operated entirely  by volunteers

Sunburst Foundation of Wilmington: an all-volunteer foster program dedicated to the rescue and adoption of dogs in need

Tails U Win Dog Rescue: focus is on strays, injured and ill pups and dogs

Topsail Humane Society
