Almost every long-time local in Wilmington has seen or had an encounter with a film or television actor. Tom Berringer used to own local watering hole Longstreet’s. Dennis Hopper owned an apartment here. Rumor has it John Travolta visits often. And several actors including Henry Darrow (the first Hispanic actor to play Zorro), Linda Lavin (from the hit ’70s/’80s TV show “Alice”) and Hilarie Burton (Peyton Sawyer on “One Tree Hill”) have bought homes here.
Running into those folks, or any other actors who might be in town filming, is pretty hit or miss.
Locals, however, know that a few spots give you a better chance. Try these:
Caffe Phoenix, 9 S. Front St., Wilmington [Map this]
Deluxe Cafe, 114 Market St., Wilmington [Map this]
Circa 1922, 8 N. Front St., Wilmington [Map this]
Odessa Bar & Lounge, 23 N. Front St., third floor, Wilmington
City Stage/Level 5, 21 N. Front St., fifth floor, Wilmington
Dockside Restaurant, 1308 Airlie Road, Wilmington [Map this] (near Wrightsville Beach)
And on public tour days at EUE/Screen Gems Studios, 1223 N. 23rd St., Wilmington [Map this]
Oh, and if you see a street blocked off and a bunch of red and white cube trucks parked nearby, pull over and keep your eyes peeled. That means on location filming is going on nearby.

On the article of where to run into actors in Wilmington, when I visiting this past Spring, I ran into Sophia Bush, Daphne Zuniga, Kate Voegele and Stephen Colletti, from ‘One Tree Hill’ downtown at Kilwins Ice Cream shop. I know many others who have run into Sophia and other cast members from ‘One Tree Hill’ at Kilwins many times as well so that might be a good place to include to the list.Plus, Kilwins has the best ice cream and fudge, so it’s always a good place to visit in Wilmington no matter what!
Thanks!
hey l like one tree hill lot
Sissy Spacek, who is in town filming a John Well-produced television pilot, was spotted at The Soapbox Laundro-Lounge last week.
