What is Pleasure Island?

Pleasure Island is a barrier island at the southern end of New Hanover County. It is bordered on the east by the Atlantic Ocean, on the west by the Cape Fear River, and on the north by Snows Cut. The coastal towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher State Park comprise the Southeastern landmark.

Just south of Wilmington, the north end of the island is home to Carolina Beach State Park and the Southport-Fort Fisher Ferry at the south end.
